Hey Rolfe,

I just want to say that I've seen sidways about 6 times & I've bought about 5 copies of the soundtrack. Your music is absolutely amazing. It really captures the mood and essence of the charachters & personifies the movie as a whole. I noticed that the song played at the end, while Miles was driving to meet maya in the rain [beautiful beautiful song but the way...it was perfect how it transitioned from him sitting in the chair in his kitchen, to the scene when he was driving. It's as if no other music would have captured the emotion in that scene so perfectly] That song was also played when Miles went to Maya's apartment for the first time, but it's not on the Soudtrack? any reason why? also, I noticed you have pdf's of certain songs, but not others. I think my favorite songs on the album are 'Walk to the hitching post, Chasing the golfers, and the one I mentioned that's not on the album. Do you think you'll be putting the pdf's for those songs up anytime soon? and also any idea where else I can hear the song I asked about? Thanks, your bio is very encouraging for me.. I'd just about given up music as a whole, until I saw the movie, and heard the soundtrack. Now, It's as if, I can't throw in the towel just yet.. Lastly, the song played while Miles was walking to the hitching post alone [in search of Maya] seemed to be an improv version of Asphalt groove [or chasing golfers] am I correct? or is it it's own song? [also not on the album]

Great work Rolfe,
I speak for myself, and everyone I've bought the album for,

excellent Job.

Thank you for the gift of music.

Ant.

Hi Rolfe,
I'm from New Orleans, LA and
just saw The Jury via DVD. The music is so wonderful! Thank you for composing such a beautiful piece.Do you know of any way I can buy a CD of the soundtrack? My very limited computer skills have come up nil. Amazon.com says it is not available thru them.

Thanks,
Peggy

Peggy, the CD of the JURY is available from Amazon.co.uk. I found it at http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006372X/qid=1112165330/sr=1-10/ref=sr_1_8_10/202-7171959-0851035

Sideways Fan, the track you mention is actually SYMBIOSIS, played by Bill Evans. I can't recall who composed it, but you should be able to find it on CD.

I think the theme used as Miles walks alone to the Hitching Post is based on his lonely theme, though the Asphalt Groovin' theme is the basis of when they walk there together.

I was not planning to post more pdfs as I think all the themes are already represented, and you can reinterpret them in various ways. Did you download them, and what did you think?

Hello, Rolfe.

First off, excellent work! I really admire the music you create.
Second, is there any place I can find the full score to 2001's "Happy Campers"? The soundtrack was incredible, but the score was hypnotic! Thank you.

Thanks for the comments and request.

Hey Rolfe,

Hope all is well with you and your music. I'm not sure if you got my last email, so thought I'd do the blog thing and see if I can show you a cut of my AFI thesis, "Duncan Removed."

It's really shaping up to be a weird little movie, which I'm quite pleased about. I had the good fortune of working with wonderful actors who give fantastic performances. I'd love to send you a copy of the rough cut to see if you'd still be interested in scoring a dark film like mine.

Warm regards,

Peter Livolsi

Mr. Kent,
First, your music is wonderful. Second, I watched an A&E Channel Biography on Michelangelo. I noticed you composed the score for this program. The Score is BEAUTIFUL! I especially like the track during the end-credits (it also is used to highlight Michelangelo's work). Can I purchase the score from this episode somewhere? Could you post the complete score for download? I would love to add it to my library. Again, thank you for the music.
Regards,
Chad

Rolfe,

Chris Henson here, of Chris and Connie of Virginia. I've watched Sideways many times and I have to say that "Miles and Maya" is a beautifully moving piece. I like how it serves as a romantic backdrop on their day together and then as sheer melancholy when he's swirling his prized wine in a styrofoam cup. "Nicely done."

jcl, I think you mean a piece titled "Can't Stop Carving" (a sort of Bach-like flute and orchestra piece). If you post your email I can send you an mp3 of the track.

I can't post the whole score for download at present.

I play your music for my children (ages 4 &7). They love the Sideways jazz. Do you have a wife and children? If so, they must be so proud. I wanted to give my kids music lessons. Is piano a good intrument to start them on?

Marianna,

Piano is a good instrument for kids, and keep in mind that while a child may not respond to the logic of one instrument, there may be another that is perfect. So if piano doesn't work out for one of yours, perhaps a very different instrument might suit better. But piano is a great place to start.
