How to find the Songs in Movies

Michiel just posted asking for the title of a song from "40 Days and 40 Nights" but didn't leave me his email. The thing is I have no idea about the songs in movies - I don't have anything to do with the choices of songs. In order to find out what the song was I had to play the end titles on the DVD and there it is - 1st song listed is the one Michiel wants.

So Michiel if you email me your address I'll let you know what it is.

Meanwhile please save yourself all the searching and just look in the end credit roll for the songs - they are always listed.

Dear Mr. Kent

my name is Fabrizio Festa and I'm an Italian professional composer. I teach arrangement and orchestration at Bologna Conservatory (more info about me at fabriziofesta.com).

I've been very impressed by Sideways and About Schimdt soundtracks. So I should like to introduce my students to your music. Where can I find your scores?

Thanks in advance,

fabrizio festa

Fabrizio, thank you for your email.

You can get About Schmidt and Sideways from several places, including http://www.amazon.de

Or you can download music of several films from my website - and give your students the address to do so: http://www.rolfekent.com/downloads.htm

best regards, Rolfe

Dear Rolfe,

In your gender designation we noticed you had listed the entry as "Male". We would like to question this; knowing you well as we both do and having shared the "entry" of the new Millenium at the residence of a charming French lady friend, was wondering why your choice of flowery pastel dress, "The Glastonbury Tent", sat so comfortably with your English posture and rosy complexion.

And furthermore - any chance of a repeat performance of that oft-admired party trick, "The Trombone"?

Finally - was also wondering whether the seen moustache is a last-ditch attempt at gladitorial level of masculinity - suits you, sir.

Toodle-pip,

Charlie and Symon

Dear Rolfe

I wanted to get in contact with you regarding a few things, but firstly wanted to make sure it was possible to speak directly with you (email) prior to sending a detailed email.

I was quite taken with the music for harp and string ensemble in About Schmidt. Have you published it so our chamber orchestra can buy it to play with our harpist? Our group is based at First-St.Andrew's United Church here in London ON Canada. For lack of a true orchestral concert hall in a city that is home to a major university (U of Western Ontario) and a college with a highly respected technical and recording studio training programme our church with its active, ambitious and accomplished music programme is also the best concert hall in town. Our congregation includes professional performers, university professors and secondary school teachers and internationally recognized composers and a fine organist and choir director. We even have among our numbers an excellent harpist, a performance graduate from McGill University in Montreal. It is for her that we would especially like to find the music (score and parts) for the harp and string music in About Schmidt.

Hi Mr. Kent,

I was particularlu jarred by severl films you scored. I especiialy liked The House of Yes, being an arthouse title with brilliant small lines between comedy and drama. Take for instance THE reconstruction scene (you'll know what I'm referring to), that had melancholic score, being very magical. Yet this scene might seem absurd and funny to others. How did you approach this film?

Thanks a lot of a reply! Joep from the Netherlands. My Email: worldwidefilmscores@yahoo.com

Rolfe,

I am looking for the song in wedding crashers that is played during claire's speech, on the beach, and a few other scenes. It is awesome!

Thanks
