Constantine snaps his fingers
Gerry's question: On the Sideways soundtrack CD "Constantine Snaps His Fingers." Where does it occur in the film? It's in the end credits - it's a theme that was originally for the arrival at Solvang but wasn't used there.
The last few weeks I've been working on the JUST LIKE HEAVEN suite, which will be premiered by the Florida Orchestra and Richard Kaufman later this month. And I'm prepping the WEDDING CRASHERS score CD which comes out with the DVD release in January 2006.

Hey, Rolfe!
I'm not actually commenting on anything, but I didn't know how to send a new message! (I'm new to this Blogging malarky.)
Just writing to express my love of your score to SIDEWAYS, especially the predominant recurring theme (first appearing in 'Asphalt Boogie').
I'm a British Writer/Director and I'm currently immersing myself in said album as I try and wrangle a new story together. The low-key, buoyant and honest tone of your score - and SIDEWAYS in general - is what I'm hoping to emulate and listening to your wonderful music really gets me 'in the zone'.
One thing: one of the early appearences of this theme is when Miles and Jack first arrive in Buellton - it's kind of a funky, disco version and I love it! But it's not on the main album. Is it available for download anywhere, or on an extended CD somewhere?
I'm currently prepping a Horror-Comedy, and I'm thoroughly enjoying dividing my creative music-listening between John Williams' JAWS-type fare for the Horror, and SIDEWAYS for this Rom-Com. The contrast is very pleasing.
Anyway, thanks again for lubricating my creative cogs, and for your immensely potent contribution to such a cracking movie.
All the best!
Matthew
Sorry! "Asphalt GROOVIN'" (But it does have a certain 'boogie' about it, doesn't it?)
Hi Rolfe,
I have been enjoying your music for years and want to say thanks for adding so much to the collection of film scores that are out there. I recently moved out to LA in pursuit of becoming a music editor and can't seem to run into anyone that has advice.
I noticed that Nick South has worked with you on several films and was wondering if you could elaborate on your collaboration with him, and maybe offer some advice on how I can connect with a music editor for some experience.
Thanks again for your contribution to the industry!

why is there not a complete box set of your film score work available? i spend every waking moment working for music placements in advertising and so much of your work is just amazing, i wish there was an easier way to get to it....
Hi Rolfe.
I really like your music. Espacially the score from the film "freaky Friday" is very great.
But I just got three songs:
The song from the CD "Fortune cookie", your downloads "Swichting" and "Freaky Friday Suite".
Where can I get more music from that film?

Great to hear that the WEDDING CRASHERS score cd is still a go... really looking forward to that!
Thanks for keeping us posted.

Hi Rolfe,
Saw the film Sideways last night...loved the music. Quirky film. I don't know if you remember me but I am an old friend of Scott and Pams...would love to talk with you about an idea.
Please email me at taylor@moorefilms.com
Cheers
Rolfe,
The new publication Eyes on Entertainment is running an article on you, how you are one of the most sought-after young composers in the movie industry, in its January issue. We are currently looking for Hi-Res photography to accompany this article. Any assistance in obtaining these images would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
Guy

Hi Rolfe,
I just wanted to say that I'm a big fan of your Oxygen score-it's quite a haunting tune.
Should you ever release a compilation of your work, could you please include the music from that film? Preferably more than the 52 seconds available for download on your website.
You're very talented...
Best,
Meghan

Hi,
I'm a college student and would like to perform Abandoning The Wedding on one of our student recitals. I would like to do it as trio with the piano, flute and sax. Do you have the flute and sax parts available for download? Please e-mail me if at blauzze@ycp.edu if you can help me out. Thanks.

Hello Rolfe
I'm very impressed with this site and your willingness to share in your success with your admirers, of which I am one. I am newly converted via Sideways, as - I suspect - are many. I'd like to ask (apologies if it has been raised already) which other movie composers you admire. I'm sure you would have heard complimentary comparisons with some of John Barry's work. John is a long-standing favourite of mine. Sideways reminded me in tone of The Knack.
Thanks for the music (cliche no.1)
Andy

Hey Rolfe,
I Know I may sound like a lunatic but I would like to present you a proposal, I want to use your music to score a series of documentaries I'm making using real weddings, brides & grooms that are current & past clients. Whats cool about this project, they had no idea this was going to be on television, they only find out when I ask permission to use them. It's raw at times and shows real emotion. I would love to send a small sample of what your music sounds like as a score, obviously I have a very small budget for music, unless I sell the show. I repsect your music and dedication to getting it just right, I too try to get it just right, so I'm taking this one chance to get my work out there. I hope you consider my proposal and I will keep enjoying your work. Thanks

Dear Mr. Kent,
I don't know if you will know the answeer to this, but in the Wedding Crashers during the touch-football scene, there is a song that sounds like Byker Hill (I hope I speeled that correctly) and I wonder if you know which song I am referring to in the movie. Am I correct? Or is it just similar to Byker Hill? There is no mention of it in the credits.
thank you so much,
Rebecca

Hi Rolfe,
No need to ask how you are, having scanned the RK website. My goodness you have been busy. I literally cannot remember the last time I went to the cinema, and what with playing most nights and wanting to see Ruby when I'm not (now 18 months old) I don't even have time to watch dvd's anymore. If ever I wanted to catch up on the RK back catalogue I think I'd need several weeks off work! However, I understand you are now a member of the jazz fraternity thanks to your last score "Sideways" - actually, by now I'm sure that wasn't your last score, so welcome to the playground. I have been hearing wonderful things about your work first hand - met a film director yesterday (father of a piano student surname Jarrold) who's studio had wanted to use you for his last film - he had used your About Schmidt sdtrack as a "dummy" soundtrack cos he loved it - but you were too busy. You must have mixed feelings about the ones you miss, but how brilliant to be too busy! I have just ordered "sideways" and am looking forward to hearing it. As you will have gathered I have lost your email address, and since I don't know how this all works, I'll stop now in case this is all printed on your site. My email is joe@joethompson.net Look out for those flat fives and sharp nines! All the best, Joe
Hi Rolfe,
I'm a big fan and was wondering if there were any plans for a score release for the film 'The Last Shot' or at least for some sound clips (Particularly the main title music!) to be put up on the site, as I thought that was a wonderful score, up there with my favourites of yours.
Thanks,
Max

Hi people
I do not know what to give for Christmas of the to friends, advise something ....
Hello. Good day
Who listens to what music?
I Love songs Justin Timberlake and Paris Hilton
Hello. Prompt how to get acquainted with the girl it to me to like. But does not know about it
I have read through one history
Each of you has your personal story; it is your history. Keeping a diary or writing your feelings in a special notebook is a wonderful way to learn how to think and write about who you are -- to develop your own identity and voice.
People of all ages are able to do this. Your own history is special because of your circumstances: your cultural, racial, religious or ethnic background. Your story is also part of human history, a part of the story of the dignity and worth of all human beings. By putting opinions and thoughts into words, you, too, can give voice to your inner self and strivings.
A long entry by Anne Frank on April 5, 1944, written after more than a year and a half of hiding from the Nazis, describes the range of emotions 14-year-old Anne is experiencing:
". . . but the moment I was alone I knew I was going to cry my eyes out. I slid to the floor in my nightgown and began by saying my prayers, very fervently. Then I drew my knees to my chest, lay my head on my arms and cried, all huddled up on the bare floor. A loud sob brought me back down to earth, and I choked back my tears, since I didn't want anyone next door to hear me . . .
"And now it's really over. I finally realized that I must do my school work to keep from being ignorant, to get on in life, to become a journalist, because that's what I want! I know I can write. A few of my stories are good, my descriptions of the Secret Annex are humorous, much of my diary is vivid and alive, but . . . it remains to be seen whether I really have talent . . .
"When I write I can shake off all my cares. My sorrow disappears, my spirits are revived! But, and that's a big question, will I ever be able to write something great, will I ever become a journalist or a writer? I hope so, oh, I hope so very much, because writing allows me to record everything, all my thoughts, ideals and fantasies.
"I haven't worked on Cady's Life for ages. In my mind I've worked out exactly what happens next, but the story doesn't seem to be coming along very well. I might never finish it, and it'll wind up in the wastepaper basket or the stove. That's a horrible thought, but then I say to myself, "At the age of 14 and with so little experience, you can't write about philosophy.' So onward and upward, with renewed spirits. It'll all work out, because I'm determined to write! Yours, Anne M. Frank
