Dupree

The UK sojourn was really good, even though the Longford project ran out of time and couldn't be completed. But seeing friends, making new friends, and creating 2 Great Singing Buddha-Bowls made the trip a really memorable one.

Now I am on an Owen Wilson project, the Russo Brothers' "You Me and Dupree". Much as I want to get away from comedy I couldn't help signing up for this film. It has such a great energy, and is a welcome change from the dark material I was on in London. We record in LA in 3 weeks, and I am looking forward to the sessions.

Did you ever work with Stefanie Naifeh, the singer?

Yes, Stefanie sang on Mean Girls, both in the choir and as the main soloist for other sections.

Dear Mr. Kent, I am trying to find the name of the song that plays during the end credits of "Election." I simply presume that it is one of your pieces, as it has the Alexander Payne/Rolfe Kent 'vibe.' I found it to be a beautiful song to end a film, in much the same fashion as "Constantine & Warren" in About Schmidt. Could you help me identify this song? Thank you for your time and for all your wonderful scores.

Dear Mr. Kent. I just wanted to drop a quick note of thanks and appreciation for the hours of enjoyment I have had listening to the score of Sideways. I have been home recovering from back surgery, and quickly depleated my DVD libray. I replayed the Sideways movie over and over late at night. For some reason, it helped me to find some elusive sleep through the pain.
I quickly realized that it was the film's score, that helped me to relax and find some peace in the night. I went to Amazon, com and ordered a copy of the soundtrack. Los Olivos and Abondoning the Wedding are my current favorites.
When I listen to the music, I can't help but think of the scene in the film, where Maya talks about why she likes wine...the things it makes her think about. Your music, unlike the garbage that fills the air waves, actually makes me think. And, I like what it makes me think about.
The music of Sideways, like Pinot, is soft, sublte, gentle, and kind. It is vibrant, thrilling, and exaulting.
I have been using my time off to chase after a dream of my own...to write a novel. I sit out on my deck in the backyard, a cooler full of diet lime pepsi, gatorade, and some Mooshead beer handy. I enjoy the breeze in the evening as I write, and for several weeks now, the score to Sideways is playing softly in the background.
I have been a fan of certain artists for more than 30 years, and I have never written to them. But, for some reason, I just had to say thanks to you for the incredible beauty I have found in the Sideways score.
I await yet another surgery on my back this summer. Your music will most certainly help to calm and sooth my frightend spirit during my stay in hospital.
Thanks again, and good luck to you in your future endeavores.

Rolfe, hearing your superb music makes me wonder why you are not scoring the James Bond films (hint). If I was you I'd have my agent give those Bond people my resume and a promo disc.

Songs are not my department. I compose the underscore. To check songs look at the movie's end credits as all songs are listed there.

Hi Mr. Kent,
I recently caught the movie "You, me and Dupree" on the flight across the pacific. I found myself hooked to the accompanying music scores and was looking for the sound track on CD and I don't believe they are released.
Found your site and the above-mentioned movie is not on the list.
Could you please let me know how to get hold of those scores so I can listen to them more?

Great job on the score!

regards,
zag
